The Long Hollow Tower
The Long Hollow Tower on U.S. Highway 20, west of Elizabeth, is a landmark visited by thousands of travelers annually.
Currently closed.
There are ample parking areas and picnic grounds at the site.

Enjoy approximately two miles of hiking trails, with the first one-third being a "teaching trail" with informational signage corresponding to a guide book available at the trailhead. Picnic shelter located across the street by the parking area. Owned by the nonprofit Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation.

The historic town of Galena, Illinois, has been reborn as a tourism destination. You will find shopping, museums and fine dining.
Across the Mississippi River lies the city of Dubuque for Riverboat
Gambling, shopping, Greyhound Park, fine museums and Riverboat Rides.
There are lots of Golf Courses within a 1/2 hour drive including the
championship courses at Eagle Ridge.
Downhill and Cross Country Skiing
Apple Canyon Lake and The Galena Territory have cross country ski
trails and are close by. Chestnut
Mountain Resort is a few minutes south of Galena and overlooks the
Mississippi River.
Mississippi Palisades State Park and Apple River Canyon State Park
have many 'hiking trails and unique, beautiful bluffs and canyons. Also
in the area are horseback riding hayrides and carriage rides are
available only minutes away. Bring your bicycle for some of the most
beautiful scenery anywhere!
Several re-claimed prairie sites are located throughout the rolling
hills of our county. Eagle sighting is popular along the Mississippi
River and Bluebird Trails abound!
